Berry company Driscoll’s has revealed that it donated 349 children’s gifts, 2,350kg of food and €3,390 to local communities in Spain, Portugal, UK and the Netherlands in 2016.
According to Driscoll's, the donations were collected during sport events, fundraisers and family days throughout the year, while the team also dedicated 82 hours to voluntary work for a senior home, women’s shelter and a number of food banks.
Initiatives included a 400km bike ride from the company’s UK office in East Malling to its headquarters in Breda. The team members accomplished this challenging trip within 32 hours’ time and raised €2,390 for the MacMillan Cancer Foundation in UK.
“As a company, we believe it is important to give something back to the community," explained Theo Houwen, senior vice-president and managing director Driscoll’s EMEA. "By supporting local projects, we can contribute to the world around us.”
