Brooks, Ore.-based shipper Curry & Co. plans to expand its blueberry offerings through a new partnership with Norris Family Farms.

The Umpqua, Ore.-based grower produces conventional and organic blueberries and kiwiberries, according to a news release. The company harvests blueberries from June to September and normally begins shipping peak volumes before the rest of the region, giving buyers a bridge between the California and Pacific Northwest deals.

Adding Norris Family Farms will increase the Curry & Co. blueberry supply by about 4.5 million pounds, split between organic and conventional.

“We’re very excited to have the Norris family as a partner,” Curry & Co. president Aaron Ensign said in the release. “Their export-quality fruit, exceptional farm and facilities and shared values make for an excellent fit. We’re both family owned and operated and are committed to supporting our communities.”

Curry & Co. also brings in berries from Chile and Mexico. The company has offices in Los Angeles and Santiago, Chile.

Late founder Gary Curry was a close friend of Norris and encouraged him to farm blueberries.

“Curry & Company played a big role in our entering the blueberry business many years ago,” Norris said in the release. “We’re pleased to align with a dynamic and talented group that still appreciates family farms. We look forward to a great 2018 season.”
