The aim of the work of the organization’s members is to maintain the industry’s high quality and food safety standards producing and supplying information and engaging in research activities that would facilitate decision-taking and the implementation of promotional activities oriented at developing new markets and increasing the global consumption of Chilean blueberries.

Chile is currently the second largest producer of cultivated blueberries at a global scale and also the leading grower in the southern hemisphere, where the fruit is available in the winter season when it is not accessible in the northern hemisphere. Chile’s position in the market is the result of the sector’s pilot work in the area of continuous development and a constant search for new ideas and services.

Chile has 13,000 hectares of blueberry plantations in different regions located from the north to the south of the country.

Thanks to this regional distribution Chile has a harvesting season that commences in the middle of October in the north of the country and lasts until April with plantations located in the south of the country.

For the 2012/13 season, projections put Chile's export crop at 84,900MT, a 21% rise compared to last year. This increase is mostly due to the entrance of orchards into their productive phases. Today, Chile has a total of 13,162 cultivated hectares, a number expected to grow 5.4% by 2016. This productive land stretches from the north in Region III down south to the XIV Region, making it the fruit with the most extensive growing footprint in Chile.
