General Manager of the Comité de Arándanos, Andrés Armstrong, recently announced that airfreight of blueberries has increased with 86% compared to last year. Week 48 even showed a record number of transported goods, leading to some logistical difficulties, according to the official.
Armstrong also stated that recent weather interfered with the harvest, but that a decent amount could still be processed and shipped. Promoting the blueberry on Asian markets like Hong Kong, Japan, China and Korea will have priority in the coming year, he said.
“In the capital of South Korea, Seoul, we already had some festivities celebrating our success in negotiating terms with the Korean markets,” he added. The negotiations were part of a promotional campaign by ProChile.
